Much of the fairytale-like beauty found in Prague can be credited to its 14th-century ruler: Charles IV. As both the King of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire, his patronage ushered in an era of art, culture, architecture, and scholarship in Bohemia; a true Golden Age. During his reign, Prague became the imperial capital of the Holy Roman Empire. A second Golden Age in Prague took place in the late 16th century during the reign of Emperor Rudolf II, who despite being a Habsburg chose to rule from Prague instead of Vienna. His fostering of both science and art allowed Prague to blossom even further. After his reign, the Austrian Habsburgs continued to rule over Prague for the next three centuries; until the end of World War I. Today, many of Prague's magnificent cultural and architectural offerings date from their reigns. The city's heritage is so rich that its entire historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6 –Half Day Guided City Tour

Today morning after breakfast we would leave for the guided Prague City Tour.

During our sightseeing tour we will introduce you Prague (UNESCO), the historical and architectural jewel of Central Europe. Our guide, available the whole time, will acquaint you with the history of Prague and of its quarters (Old Town, New Town, Lesser Town and the Castle Town) in the comfort of our air-conditioned bus. Then you will continue by visiting the Prague Castle and the Prague’s most dominant feature – Saint Vitus’ Cathedral. After a 75-minute walk (approx.) with our guide, we drive you to the pier on the Vltava River. You board a tour boat and will have the chance to relax or to buy refreshments while admiring the beauty and panorama of Prague from a different perspective. From the upper deck you will also see the world renowned old Charles Bridge. Relaxed, you will continue taking a short walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Old Town Square (Astronomical Clock, Týn Church), where this tour will be finished.

Day 7 –Full day trip to Cesky Krumlov

A full day trip from Prague to the beautiful medieval town of Cesky Krumlov. Located in the south of the Czech Republic, Cesky Krumlov is protected as a UNESCO world heritage site. It is one of the country's most attractive places to visit after Prague.

This excursion is part by air-conditioned coach, part on foot. After picking you up from our Prague hostel, we drive for around 21⁄2 hours through the scenic Bohemian countryside to reach Cesky Krumlov. We begin our guided walking tour with a stroll through the formal gardens and courtyards of Cesky Krumlov Castle, before walking down to explore the town's historic centre; the quaint old streets are lined with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses once belonging to wealthy noblemen.

There is then a few hours free time for you to browse the charming small shops, enjoy a stroll along the banks of the lovely winding river and choose a café or restaurant for lunch (lunch is not included in the price of the tour). Mid-afternoon we meet up for our guided visit of the main attraction, the mighty Renaissance Cesky Krumlov Castle, once the seat of powerful lords, the Rožmberks and the Schwarzenbergs.

The castle houses a rich collection of paintings, period furniture, Flemish tapestries, historical weapons, and intricate china, glassware and jewellery.

After the castle, in the late afternoon, we commence the journey back to Prague. At the end of the tour, the coach will drop you back off at our hostel.
