Imagine yourself on an evening game drive, cruising the streets of the glorious Masai Mara from the comfort of your 4x4 safari vehicle. After a few rounds of casting inquisitive glances out in the wilderness, suddenly, something implores you to peep through your window seat only to lock eyes with a leopard lazing by atop a tree in the African wilderness. Isn't that heartwarming?

Upon stretching your eyes further to the western horizon, another charming embrace awaits your discovery; the golden sun, dancing and glowing softly - all for you to see. These are some of things you don't encounter every other day and that is Africa you. Africa is magic itself.

Somewhere away from all the noise, hustles and bustles of the city life, something phenomenal is happening. Great herds of wildebeests and zebra that had just arrived from the Northern Serengeti plains can be seen preparing themselves to cross the treacherous waters of the Mara river. This is none other than the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth (also known as the Greatest Wildebeest Migration) as it brings together thousands of zebra and wildebeest by their millions to migrate from Serengeti and cross over to the Masai Mara ecosystem in search of fresh water and greener pastures. The migration happens each year. It begins in July and reaches its climax between August and October.

During the crossing, this is where the real drama unfolds. The animals must plunge in the Mara river as it is the only way to cross over to the other side. The river is characterized by strong moving currents and high infestation of Nile-crocodiles that like the herds, are also on the lookout to make a living. Whilst the animals cross, some are viciously attacked and plucked from the migratory train by the famished crocodiles hiding beneath the murky waters. They are mauled and if not dead, feasted upon alive as nature's free banquet. Those that manage to cross to the other side live to fight another day. What a vicious cycle of nature and a sight to behold!
